Brilliant. I'd be tempted to say it was better than The Darjeeling Limited, though that would just be testimony to the power in both films.

Better than Darjeeling and I'm not a hundred percent sure all of Darjeeling would've made sense without it.

For a filmmaker who excels at portraying struggling relationships, the intimacy of Hotel Chevalier really stands out. Also, it was more successful in drawing my attention to The Darjeerling Limited than any typical trailer could have done.

view this not as prologue or addendum to darjeeling. it stands on its own as a short, and should be viewed that way. true, it is complimentary to darjeeling, but dont overlook its how singularly complete it is as a piece of art.
