Shulman's script and Hereck's direction are full of the right intentions, morally and humanistically. But sadly not cinematically.

For all the funny possibilities of Mr. Murphy's neat transformation here, the latest comedy from Stephen Herek ("Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure," "The Mighty Ducks") doesn't know what to do with him.

Eddie's most underrated movie, and an underrated movie in general. Why more people who like Groundhog Day, and similar allegorical subtext-type films, haven't glommed onto this I simply don't know.
