Joe Moore has a job he loves. He's a thief. His job goes sour when he gets caught on security camera tape. His fence, Bergman, reneges on the money he's owed, and his wife may be betraying him with the fence's young lieutenant. Moore and his partner, Bobby Blane, and their utility man, Pinky Pincus, find themselves broke, betrayed, and blackmailed. Moore is forced to commit his crew to do one last big job.

Hackman, DeVito, Lindo make an excellent cast. Plus I love movies where people steal things in clever ways.

Heist is a pleasure to watch, and the greatest pleasure is to watch Mr. Lindo and Mr. Hackman steal it.

This is a fantastic heist film and Gene Hackman is as BA as ever. The well written story accounts for every intricate detail necessary for a believable heist and just when you think that you've seen the final twist, you'll realize that you are wrong. Though the greatest character motivation in a movie like this is revenge (Italian Job, Ocean's Eleven), money talks and Hackman's need for cash to get out of "the business" gives him a believable motivation throughout the movie. Though character development isn't the primary goal in this movie, great characters emerge from Sam Rockwell's hateable incompetence to Rebecca Pidgeon's "cool chick" attitude and Delroy Lindo's pure awesomeness. "Heist" is a favorite of mine and this movie is guarenteed to keep you guessing.
