While I've seen quite a few Woody Allen movies (thanx hubby) I've never been a huge fan. This one, however, is the best thing he's ever made (that I've seen at any rate). It's an insightful study of self-delusion, reality and everything in between. External life, internal life and interpersonal life in all it's rich, bizarre facets.

This is certainly one of my favorite Woody Allen films. It's got a nice mix of drama and comedy, and a great performance by Michael Caine.

Some criticize the final scene (not Allen's first choice) but I applaud it. It is rare that a film can pull off a moment like that and not destroy everything that came before it. It becomes a great example of how beautiful an outlook Allen has on the joys of life, a perfect counterpart to the sad truths he recognizes in his more downbeat films.
