Grabbers (2012)

Something sinister has come to the shores of Erin Island, unbeknownst to the quaint population of this sleepy fishing village resting somewhere off Ireland's coast. First, some fishermen go missing. Then there is the rash of whale carcasses suddenly washing up on the beach. When the murders start, it's up to two mismatched cops – an irresponsible alcoholic and his new partner, a by-the-book woman from the mainland – to protect the townsfolk from the giant, bloodsucking, tentacled aliens that prey upon them. Their only weapon, they discover, is booze. If they want to survive the creatures' onslaught, everyone will have to get very, very drunk!

The combination of great landscape, predictable monster with cute baby monsters, and a lot of drunk folks is quite amusing.

In order to keep the monster alien octopi at bay, a group of Irish townsfolk must stay drunk at all times (which is nothing out of the ordinary really)...it's premise is akin to the 1990's horror 'Tremors' and its most recent British counterpart 'Attack the Block' in that it doesn't take itself too seriously and focuses more on the fun of the genre rather than the scares.

Grabbers is a typical monster movie but with a few differences...It's set in Ireland, and it's funny. The cgi is amazing for this low budget film, and the idea of a town of drunk people trying to fend off sea monsters, is pure Irish gold.

Un film au pitch con mais qui s'y tient de A à Z. Pour ça c'est respectable. Aprés ça casse pas 3 pattes à un canard mais ça reste quand même assez plaisant!
