Un chambara crepusculaire offrant une photographie exemplaire, mettant les 4 elements a l'honneur : la boue, la neige et l'ocean, le vent et le feu. Une celebration de l'individu moral contre le groupe corrompu.

A pretty good Samurai drama. Hideo Gosha obviously got most of his storytelling and cinematography ideas from Akira Kurosawa. My only real complaint is the protagonist's wife's bad teeth. It was really unpleasent to look at and led me to wonder why the protagonist didn't dump her for the other girl in the movie.

Definitely one of Nakadai's more memorable roles. Some otherwise good characters in this as well. A slow start but well worth it by the end. One of Gosha's better films.
