There's not much to take away from the movie besides its sound and fury.

I thought this was a very powerful movie, although not an easy movie to watch. I was impressed that the director chose not to pull his punches and ended the movie pretty much the way it had to end, even if the ending might make the movie less commercially viable.

Really good. gOOD DRAMA, TENSE THRILLER AT POINTS, FUNNY, AND CHARMING.

Hannah McGill 12 Mar 2018

The spirit of early Spike Lee infuses this patchy but energetic sophomore feature by writer-actor-director Justin Chon.

Touching, disheartening and surprising, Gook punches through the noise of 2017’s clamor over race with a sobering look at a defining moment in modern American history. It’s a simple, straight-forward and compelling reminder that the villains and the victims were spread further across the spectrum than we’ve ever dared to accept.
