Great movie! At the beginning I thought it was going to be a run of the mill missing person story BUT it ends up being so much more. Of course it also helps that Ben Affleck is in it!

One of my friends shows this movie to all of the girls he is dating on the first date. He says if they cannot handle the intensity of this film, then he will not bother pursuing a relationship further. While my love for Gone Girl may not be that intense, I can easily say that this is one of the best movies that has come out in the last 10 years.

(My original review was deleted) Perfect Movie! Tackles the issue of modern day relationships and of public opinion in the media. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike at fantastic! Don't watch on a first date but a must watch in any other circumstance!

The surprise revelation that comes about halfway into the movie was pretty predictable for me. Luckily, though I was thinking it would be a huge secret they save for some unsatisfying reveal as the finale, there was actually a lot more to the story. It has lots of twists and turns, along with great presentation and pacing to keep me from losing interest. It has a fantastic, unique score to boot. My feelings for the characters fluctuated as more was revealed about them. Depending on whose perspective I was being shown, Nick's or Amy's, I would think that one or the other was a complete monster and then go back to thinking the other was the good guy. In the end, I found both of them generally contemptuous. It was nice having two main characters fleshed out enough for me to have such strong opinions on them. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike nail their respective roles, with Rosamund being slightly more memorable. They both are especially good at portraying a character who is putting on a show. This was Best Picture-worthy in my eyes.

Magnificent performances. What I thought was going to be a long drawn out film, ended up being a gripping thriller that I couldn't turn away from.
