Benkei, a master fighter and killer, vows never to take another life after his conversion to Buddhism. great period piece. tadanobu asano is always great. and if you happened to play the game Genji, you may recognize some scenery and wardrobe similarities. also, i guess these people are historical figures that you may have heard of, if you're from Japan. Benkei kicks ass.

A great japanese period fantasy piece. Its all swords, demons, good versus evil garbage, but well crafted & entertaining. If you like Zhou Yimous recent stuff you will like this.

This film is amazing!! How can such a superbly made film be not more well known? The cinemotgraphy was impressive, the soundtrack rocked and it would take a katana to slice the through the atmosphere. See it!

Strange as it may be, its symbolism eluding in part viewer's grasp, the battle between two duelist trascending to a cosmic conflict of apocalyptic might (as hellish as heavenly) is a powerful sight, moreso in a movie less graceful and polished, but vigorously dirtier, than your average chambara.
