Good doc that stayed true to looking at slashers, as opposed to being snooty and trying to condemn the slasher in order to praise "Psycho" once again. Lots of good clips and interviews.

There were a few bits I didn't know before, but this is hardly a masterpiece.

enjoyable documentary on the narrative of the slasher film

As much as I enjoyed it, I thought it could have been better. They could have had better interviews and discussed some of the arguements about the Slasher a bit more in-depth. I didn't feel like I learned anything new. But still enjoyable.

If you've already read the book of the same name by Adam Rockoff, you're not going to find a heck of a lot of information in this short documentary that you didn't already know. However, there are some great interviews with some of horror's most notable directors. The documentary also warrants praise for not distilling the subject matter to the most popular, recognizable slashers, even though it was broadcast over mainstream television (Starz, I think). Sure, Friday the 13th receives extensive coverage, but so do The Prowler, Slumber Party Massacre, Happy Birthday to Me, and Italian giallo films.
