In an effort to get his buddy out of a gambling debt, Jeff agrees to join forces with Judge in a weapons heist. The job goes bad and Judge betrays Jeff. Jeff plots the ultimate revenge on Judge and his followers and it is a question of whether he can follow through with his plan.

One of those key films that brought Chow Yun Fat to the attention of American audiences, I had somehow not seen this one up to a few weeks ago. The film casts him as a charismatic thief who does his best to look out for his friend and ends up on a mission of vengeance after a terrible betrayal. Well worth a rental for any action fan.

Ringo Lam, looking for quick cash, dug through his garbage and found "Full Contact." Though intended to be a commercial venture Lam's take on Boorman's "Point Blank" (1967) resembles something of a grindhouse feature with all the underpinnings (the protagonist's a biker; the antagonist's a sociopathic homosexual with a sexpot henchmen named Virgin; the plot involves a double-cross following a heist). With these junk food specs, "Full Contact" immediately found a home in the West, though it performed below projection at home where audiences disapproved of Chow Yun-fat as a flat-topped biker who prefers butterfly knives to 9mm's. Supposedly, in one sequence, the actors refused Lam's request to fire live ammunition.

A bullet outta tha chamber. Has everything in a movie Guns, Girls, Action, Double Crossed, Betrayed And left For Dead. Chow UN was A Bad ass in This Movie. Tha Girls in this are Hot. Bullets flyin left And Right watchin This Movie. if Yuor Chow Yun Fat Fan you Gotta See This.

Great Hong Kong action movie directed by arguably HK's answer to Sam Peckinpah - Ringo Lam. Chow Yun-Fat's performance is as great as ever even though he's a much colder character in this compared to the characters he played in his John Woo-directed films. Anthony Wong also puts in a great performance, as does Simon Yam as the lead villain. The nightclub shoot-out uses some then-innovative tricks, and the gunplay is effective albeit less stylised than in Woo movies. The UK version is now completely uncut after losses to some horrific violence and all scenes depicting the balisong knife were made to versions released prior to 1999. Not a hit in HK, but did very well overseas.

Is it just me or does Chow Yun-Fat get horribly disfigured in every movie? This movie is unlike Chow's collaborations with John Woo in that it isn't poignant, it's just pure action and cheese (there's even a training montage! With a Hong Kong power ballad!). When you're out of Woo, Ringo Lam is a good alternative.
