From the sight of a police officer this movie depicts the life in New York's infamous South Bronx. In the center is "Fort Apache", as the officers call their police station, which really seems like an outpost in enemy's country. The story follows officer Murphy, who seems to be a tough cynic, but in truth he's a moralist with a sense for justice.

Som en riktigt bra 70-talsfilm. Paul Newman är som klippt och skuren och slutet är av allra bästa sort.

What they came out with is the most complete collection of cop-movie clichés since John Wayne played a Chicago cop in “McQ”.

Typically hard-edged NYC cop film of the era. Shot on location and makes the Bronx looks like a war-zone. Faced its share of litigation and protests but good cast delivers overall, although lasting impact is somewhat depressing.

I don't know what to say. I've just finished watching this. It's the best cop movie I've ever seen. There are some great performances, (Paul Newman stands out, but then he would), but the star of the movie's got to be the Bronx. It's the setting that makes it, not the actors, the plot or even the action - and there's plenty of that. The ending? Ohhhhhh . . . . son of a *bitch*. Worth anybody's time.

A utterly engaging hard-boiled cop story..a gritty look and very realistic rendition of the Bronx in the 70s..A tough story topped by an excellent cast. Truly worth watching
