Fay Grim (2007)

Many years after her notorious husband, Henry Fool, fled after killing a neighbor, Fay Grim receives a visit from CIA agent Fulbright, who tells her that Henry is dead, but that some of his journals have been unearthed in France. She sets forth on a globe-trotting odyssey that soon leads to the discovery that he is alive, and his journals are more than they appear to be.

I went to see this film because I Parker Posey and Jeff Goldblum in the credits. They did fantastic jobs here, Parker Posey was intoxicating, and James Urbaniak was a pleasant surprise. I've only found out through the reviews that there was a film before this about Henry Fool. I thorough enjoyed this film without knowing his back story, which now I will go and see. It'll be interesting if I enjoy the first movie as much as this one, as most of the those who have seem them in the opposite order consider the sequel to be inferior. Either way this was a very original film for me, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys really off-beat cinema.

Where the legs are kicked from under every conceivable conclusion one might have come to from 'Henry Fool'. Offbeat even by Hal Hartley's standards... funny, yes, confusing, very... I'm having a hard time deciding if this warrants a 2 or a 4.

Royal Tenenbaums meets Spies Like Us. The second act turns really serious which makes it both good and bad at the same time. Liked the humor in the first act wish it had more of it in the second.
