A solid, creepy, and engaging piece of found-footage horror, Evidence opens with a set-up familiar to anyone who has seen The Blair Witch Project or any of its countless knock-offs. But Evidence quickly diverges from standard found-footage fare and develops a uniquely unsettling, surprising, and really brutal plot. The film will definitely not disappoint found-footage fans.

I'm a found-footage apologist, I admit it. When they work, they work very well for me. I love THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, really enjoyed ATROCIOUS and think LAKE MUNGO (which doesn't fit comfortably into that sub-genre) is one of the scariest films I've ever seen. EVIDENCE, though, which I heard many good things about, doesn't cut the mustard for me. The opening scenes, in which four bickering youths go camping in the wilderness, are entirely reminiscent of BLAIR WITCH, and serve to effectively build up a bit of tension as screams rent the night air and some kind of horror lurks in the bushes. Then, about half of the way in, everything goes to hell, people start running about, the guns come out and the film descends into manic tedium. There are numerous elementary mistakes which would be forgiveable if the bulk of the film was better made, but by the time you get to the end you may feel a little like you've been short-changed. That said, thankfully it's only 75mins long, though even then it feels like it drags. Not worth the effort, sadly.

40 minutes of idiots being stupid. 10 minutes of girls running and screaming. 20 minutes of I N S A N I T Y. Worth watching for the ending.

Not a bad little found-footage horror flick. Different take on the same formula of a group of young people who are filming a documentary while camping. Something starts stalking them and as they run for their lives, they find out the mystery goes a lot deeper than they imagined.

Creepy/Sinister/Unexpected/Brilliant/Mundane/Warped/Genius. Final 30 minutes keep you trapped to the very end (and even after the final credits start rolling).
