The film making was adequate, but the story (adapted from a book written by some old, dead person) is fabulous. The result: A slow, depressing and thoroughly fulfilling cinematic experience.

Fun movie to watch. What I liked the most was the emotion and the tension between the characters. Liam Niesson gives some of his finest acting here.

The contrast between the harshness and bitter cold of winter in New England with the consuming passion of two people trapped by circumstances helps make this film. And so does the line, "I wanted to make the supper table pretty." Nobody knows this film...that's too bad. See it with a girlfriend OR a man who knows good films.
