Eight Legged Freaks (2002)

The residents of a rural mining town discover that an unfortunate chemical spill has caused hundreds of little spiders to mutate overnight to the size of SUVs. It's then up to mining engineer Chris McCormack and Sheriff Sam Parker to mobilize an eclectic group of townspeople, including the Sheriff's young son, Mike, her daughter, Ashley, and paranoid radio announcer Harlan, into battle against the bloodthirsty eight-legged beasts.

Eight Legged Freaks is a hidden classic; wonderfully entertaining and without ever losing its sense of fun, it's the closest thing we have to a Gremlins remake--with a scene where a clever spider follows a human while hidden under a tent ala Bugs Bunny epitomizing the film's non-compromising humor.

A fantastic B movie that knows it is a B movie. Watch it for the fun of a spoof type movie. I hate spiders but loved the movie!

The genre of "man vs. giant bug" is a hard one to pull off seriously. Fortunatley. "Eight Legged Freaks" doesn't. It's more or less a parody of the giant bug moves of the fiffties, playing on all of the absurdidies. The spiders appear pretty realisitc (apart from their vocalizations) considering it's a B-movie. An underappreciated film not to be missed!

I thought this was really funny...not sure why it's classed as a horror cos there isnt any blood and gore...more like a monster comedy! There were heaps of cheesy funny parts and it reminded me of a funny 80's cheesy scary movie along the lines of Gremlins. I'd watch it again just for another laugh!

I hate spiders and yet I like it I found it quite amusing I mean who doesn't want to see giant spider get shot in the head I recommend this film to all b movie fans
