Dog Days (2018)

Elizabeth, a charming morning show news anchor, seeks advice from her dog's therapist after a breakup. Tara, a spunky barista, dreams of a life beyond the coffee shop. Awkward Garrett pines for Tara while trying to keep his adopt-a-dog business afloat. Dax is a man-child and leader of the aspiring rock band Frunk. Grace and Kurt anxiously await the arrival of their adoptive daughter, Amelia. Walter, an aging, lonely widower, loses his dog Mabel when she runs off. The beloved canines in their lives soon start to influence their careers, friendships, and romantic relationships in funny and unexpected ways.

If you want just like light happy doggy movie but, you also want the deep catharsis the satisfying deep cry this is it.

This is a movie for dog lovers by dog lovers. If you don't like dogs you won't like this movie. That being said, I'd it was only Walter & Mabel's story it would have gotten 4.5 stars.

Dog Days is a doggone delight and easily one of my favorite films about dogs of all time. The entire cast along with their doggie co-stars are terrific at delivering big laughs and a ton of heart.

Marino keeps the feature as unthreatening as possible, with as many tongue-flapping canine close-ups as possible, and he's capable of so much more than this lethargic sameness.
