Doctor Sleep (2002)

While treating a policewoman for smoking, hypnotherapist Michael Strother has a telepathic vision of a young girl floating beneath the surface of a stream. The escaped victim of a ritualistic serial killer, the girl has become mute, and Michael is called upon by Scotland Yard to unlock the secrets she holds in order to catch a man who believes he has discovered the key to immortality.

Okay--this is a VERY screwed up thriller...fascinating concepts..but needed a little more development...I say check it out DURING THE DAY..and fold laundry or something...

Not too bad, but certainly not even close to a top-rated thriller. Too much half-religious nonsence.

This is not an all too terrible movie. I didn't know how I would do watching a British film but - it was decent. If anything I think that it needed to be developed quite a bit better. The story wasn't bad at all. How it was portrayed lacked a bit . . . . but had me interested none the less. Much like the stupid Unsolved Mysteries shows. A good soundtrack and some better graphics would have also served this movie well. But over all it was worth the time and far better in my mind then most movies that have big budgets in Hollywood. Maybe the director Nick Willing just needs to rethink his direction.

Strange movie that has weird unpredictable twists.

A stylish and well told thriller with a surprisingly entertaining cast that comes from a Director who's really done nothing more than direct TV series and movies. Makes sense that his main would be someone like ER dreamboat Goran Visnjic but it's the chemistry between him and Shirley Henderson that drives this picture. If the film had been done with some poor acting it would have felt boring so Director Nick Willing has a lot to thank his cast for. The story is (which Mr. Willing co-wrote) isn't terribly original but the X-Files like feel at least manages to keep some interest. All in all, the film is passable and worth checking out, but don't be surprised if you quickly forget it.
