Doctor Sleep (2002)

While treating a policewoman for smoking, hypnotherapist Michael Strother has a telepathic vision of a young girl floating beneath the surface of a stream. Strong acting and smartly tuned-in directing turn a run-of-the-mill detective story into a striking, sometimes harrowing blend of horror and suspense.

low budget psycho-thriller with some suspense. Gets your heart racing from the opening sequence.

I see a lot of promise here, but the concept is a bit overdone, the acting a bit stiff, and toward the end, it just goes too far off the deep end. I really wanted to enjoy this, but sometimes it didn't make it easy. It's worth seeing once, but I'm not sure I'd be tempted to watch it again.
