"The darkest hour" reminds us the horror of the war, in this case the darkness of the first days, the beginning of the war. Nothing special about it, we all know or we all can imagine that it was not easy to take decisions, to live threatened by Hitler's troops, to live and see another generation of young people going to fight and die senselessly. What makes this movie special is Gary Oldman impersonating Winston Churchill. Uncanny resemblance! The way he talks, behaves, the voice, the eyes, the sense of humour, it is like Churchill himself is present in the movie. Gary Oldman makes "The darkest hour" a movie to remember and I hope that Oscar 2018 will be his year to receive accolades as "the best Actor".

One of the best movies in recent years. And the history lesson of WWII is needed among todays under 60s who have no clue of the sacrifice made by their parents and grandparents.

It was suspenseful and very good. I believed there was good chemistry among the actors. My significant other reminded me not to worry during the movie because we know the ending - which is rather telling on how good this movie was and how it affected me as we watched. Because we loved the movie, we decided to rent Dunkirk and watch it the following night, and we hope to rent and see Churchill soon.

The Darkest Hour is a film made with prestige. First, Gary Oldman is transformed as the prime minister of the U.K. Winston Churchill. His acting is superb and will receive an Oscar nomination as it deserves. The story is well written and articate functioning we'll especially given the talents of editing in this movie. One interesting aspect of The Darkest Hour is the intense scenes wrapped in calm moments of thought or language alone. This is all due to the excellent score. The Darkest Hour is sure to receive an Oscar nod for this as the music makes every scene in the most splenderous way. The Darkest Hour is a must see 5/5 best picture for this critic.
