Jane's second directorial effort (why I watched it) has a weird comic book crossed with noir style to it, which jars at first, but you get used to it. The music is crappy, but it's not so bad that it annoys or puts you off the film. Reminded me of Lynch's Lost Highway a bit. German is so hot in this. Also never noticed how much she looks like Amy Smart before. Jane does well as both director and star here. There's a kind of neat time travel/time loop twist at the end (unfortunately I knew the bloody guy was Jane straight away, just from the look of him, but I guessed it was some version of his subconscious, not literally a future version of him), which makes the film a tad more interesting overall, once you've finished it. Jane and writer Murphy both try really hard here, but somehow it just doesn't come together into anything that is more than just 'good' at best (thus 3 stars). Commendable for its effort and unique style.

Suspenseful and stylish, very eerie desert setting. Decent performances, effective score, downright creepy at times. Good cinematography. I admire the effort and Thomas Jane's direction is rather interesting. I can't say I cared for the conclusion.

A very interesting mystery thriller in the vein of a david lynch film (kind of). Good performances by Thomas Jane and Lauren German and the story is pretty good keeping one interested in the story. Has a very twilight zone feel or any david lynch film sort of. I'm surprised that I didn't see this film in theaters, definitely is good enough for theater release. check it out if you like good mystery thrillers!

"At the End of the Road... The Nightmare Begins" A couple en route from Las Vegas are forced to deal with a body out in the desert making their honeymoon one hellish ride. REVIEW Thomas Jane directs a film that shows more promise than actual success. Its a Noirish tale about a honeymooning couple who who accidentally run over a man staggering in the desert, stop to help him only to have everything go horribly wrong when the man turns on them. From that point on it's a descent into hell as things get complicated on every level. Give Thomas Jane points for making a good looking film. Give him a few more for getting some really good performances from all the actors. Unfortunately he looses a few for making an often tedious film. The pace of the film is often so slow that the film would cause you to nod off if you didn't want to know what happens. I don't know if the conclusion was worth the ride, but it kept me watching. That's about all I can say. Worth a look, but I'd wait for cable.
