Novaro's story feels stale. Only the innocence and vivacity of her leading actress, Maria Rojo, keeps this slow-moving, thinly plotted tale alive.

Danzon is an excellent little independent film with no pretention but it's a fine entertainment, well acted, well written and beautifully shot. This is an interesting female orientated type of film, a film that shows and talk about women in an interesting way. Not feminist but rather feminine, the film portrays the emancipation of a woman who's willing to take a risk and get out of her comfort zone to follow a man but as time goes she finds herself emancipated and becoming slowly her own person and gains tremendous confidence along the way. Great film indeed.

this was truly a dull film in my opinion. i liked the music gave the film and story much of its meaning and i think the culture of cuban dance was nicely displayed, but this dragged along for two hours going around a character's motive which became boring. even the ending was on a low point, given the dull buildup.

well this is a journey of self exploration and looking 4 love mixed with dancing kinda a mexican "stricly ballroom" or "take the lead"
