Ni plus ni moins dÃ©rangeant, ce film porte sur une liaison purement sexuelle entre un politicien britannique haut placÃ© et la fiancÃ©e de son fils. Avec Jeremy Irons, Ã©gal Ã lui-mÃªme, Juliette Binoche, encore jeune Ã l'Ã©poque mais brillant de tous ses feux, et Miranda Richardson, superbe en femme cocufiÃ©e/mÃ¨re Ã©plorÃ©e.

Not sure exactly how I'd rate this film but Jeremy Irons was as always, fantastic.

Jeremy Irons is great in this. Come to think of it, he's great in most of the films he's in. And apparently in the 1990s, Irons was dead-set on playing roles where he lusted after unavailable females. '92 saw this one, and in '97 he got even more forbidden in Lolita, but anyway, this film is pretty suspenseful, simply because the title seems to suggest that Irons' affair with his son's fiancee is doomed to not be secret forever. This is an interesting portrayal of obsession. Who knew Jeremy Irons was such a ladies' man? Binoche is good in her role, and both are good at portraying their "romance" as completely without passion, that is to say without emotional entanglement. The silences in this film's "love" scenes is often deafening. It's an interesting tale but I wouldn't buy this one. C+
