Daisy Diamond (2007)

A tragic story about Anna who dreams of one thing only: making it as an actress. She moves from Sweden to Copenhagen to pursue her dream. But fate has something else in store for her. Though she struggles to give her 4-month-old daughter a good start in life, she ultimately fails to unite her dream of acting with a safe and loving environment for her child, culminating in a desperate act that has fatal consequences for Anna and her daughter.

Meget anderledes film. Barsk, tragisk, ligner ikke noget jeg har set fÃ¸r. Den skal vist lige ha et par dage til at trÃ¦nge ind- Fantastisk prÃ¦station af Noren eller Rapace eller hvaÂ´ hun nu hedder for tiden. Tror hun bliver en fantastisk Lisbeth Salander.

An emotional rape. The gloom of destruction and unrelenting hopelessnes will not be ignored. The brilliant use of close-ups and white walls as background forces the focus entirely on Noomi NorÃ?Â©ns' power-performance that makes Kidmans' Grace look flat and dull. To me it was like watching a dear friend descending into the pits of destruction without being able to do anything. This film have no compromises, no underlying humorous relieve. It's raw, brutal and thought provoking.

This movie is not an easy watch. But we've seen such samples hundreds of times from European cinema. It's realistic and heart-wrenching and dauntless. Noomi Rapace is one of Sweden's current best actresses. She's simply mind-blowing. But this movie truly has not much to offer. Like I said, European cinema has offered us this kind of drama many times before. It's terrible that this applies in real life, but as a movie it offers no new venues for exploration.
