One of the greatest stories of all time. The figure of Cyrano stands as an inspiration to anyone who's ever had a romantic thought in their head. Jose Ferrer will always be Cyrano to me. He simply owned the role and deserved the Oscar. I think part of the reason the overall production looks sort of 'stagey' is because Ferrer is such a force on the screen. Everything else looks a little less there, a little less real because Cyrano is larger than everything around him and his intensity draws the attention like the sun draws the planets. His performance is as inescapable as gravity.

Jose Ferrer was amazing and everybody else was okay. Witty, heart-warming, and full of adventure. Keeps the audience rooting for Cyrano throughout the entire movie.
