This is a classic. I have loved it since the first time I saw it, and became hooked on every remake since:)

This was a good movie and Jose Ferrer gave a commanding performance, but I felt the rest of it could have been better. I realize it's based on a play, but the look of the film was too much like a stage, the sets were pretty bland and it just sort of played out like a play. Regardless, it was an good movie and I loved the opening scenes with Cyrano and his moments with Roxanne. I prefer the 1990 version.

Jose Ferrer's version of Cyrano misses the mark. A fact that becomes all the more obvious when you compare it to the Depardieu version of the 80s. Cyrano is arrogance with no heart.

This is absolutely my favorite movie of all time. Love the melodrama, love the comedy, love the poetry, love the unashamed grandstanding scene at the very end-- in short, love the "panache."

Brilliant script. At times fantastically comic, at times terribly tragic. Ferrer gave a stellar performance. Loved it.
