Cracks is an impressive debut from the latest Scott to step behind the camera. The eye-catching photography, attention to detail and strong acting amount to a sharply-observed character study. It's a fine calling card.

Eva Green stars as Miss G, a free-spirited teacher at a posh bearding school for girls, where she enjoys the adoration of her young pupils who lap up every word of her tales of adventure beyond the school's walls. The arrival of a young Spanish girl, however, upsets her applecart, and the titular cracks start to show... Green is amazing as Miss G. As beautiful and as graceful as she is throughout, she effortlessly conveys Klaus Kinski levels of craziness with a mere roll of her eyes and her metamorphosis as the film progresses manages to be both subtle and frightening. The younger members of the cast are no less impressive, as is the direction by Jordan (daughter of Ridley) Scott in a very impressive debut feature. Brilliant and highly recommended.

A disturbingly beautiful film. That deals with the desires and struggles of being closed off from the rest of the world. And how desire can turn into obsession. Eva Green gives a stunning performance, along side Juno Temple and Maria Valverde.

Very slow to start, but definitely worth sticking with. I was really enthralled by this once it become apparent that the beautiful Miss G (Eva Green) was a little mentally unbalanced. I actually had sympathy for her character right up until the very last bit. After that point it became a little hard to excuse her. This is beautifully filmed and it's interesting that someone has compared this to Heavenly Creatures, because that's exactly what it reminded me of, though obviously different, not a rip off in any way. The actresses who play the school girls are a little unremarkable, but it further marks the glamour of Mss G and, to a lesser extent, Fiamma (Maria Valverde), the student who eventually pushes Miss G's fragile sanity over the edge. I think it was a smart move to make the other girls quite ordinary and unmemorable. Compelling and interesting movie. Not sure if it would be one all would enjoy, but certainly worth a look.

where there are girls, there is cattiness!!! UGH, I always hated cliques as a teenager, just brought back memories. Nothing bad happened to me but I had noticed bullying done to other teenagers and it was not pleasant. All that to say that bullying never brings out good things but always leaves a lifetime of scars. This movie reflected so well that reality, so worth watching! Acting was fabulous!
