Disappointed that I didn't get to finish it, but I doubt the last 30 minutes would improve upon the first 50. It's the second crime movie, the second polizioschetti (or however you spell it), I've watched, and the second I've sent back to Netflix without finishing. Probably because they're so fucking dull and boring, I lose interest. They're not poorly made, just.... Poorly told, I guess. Anyway, this was Fulci's first movie after Zombi 2, and you can tell he's still got some gorners (gore boners, trademark: me), because half this movie is gory murders and setpieces. It's not a horror movie, but it's paced like one. Odd. Anyway, perhaps someday I'll finish this. Perhaps someday I'll finish it in one sitting, as opposed to not finishing it in 5 sittings. Until then, I throw this mediocre Contraband back into the sea, in my search for something more stimulating.

Damn this film is cruel sometimes (the rape scene was very unsettling), but the sense of gritty action and crime works well with Fulci's brutal violence and "don't you dare blink" style. It's also the only film I've seen corpses get shot up realistically at point black range.

A fairly mundane Naples-set smuggling drama is given a Fulci make-over, with the consequent blood-splatter, face-melting gore that his viewers have rightfully come to expect. It's not quite OTT enough to take the genre into another realm, but it does give a certain tension to the action sequences, and even though most of "Contraband" is pretty forgettable, there are a few stand-out moments of sheer weirdness (in no small part thanks to the useless dubbing) that guarantee that this won't bore.

Fulcis crime film is also one of his most brutal films. There are alot of sadistic killing here! One scene in particular warrents a nod involving a pretty womans face and a Bunson Burner!! Fucking creul. Genre fav. Fabio Testi rules in his usual way! And that Fabio Frizzi score is super cool! I cant wait to track that down and add it to my film music collection.
