A fairly mundane Naples-set smuggling drama is given a Fulci make-over, with the consequent blood-splatter, face-melting gore that his viewers have rightfully come to expect. It's not quite OTT enough to take the genre into another realm, but it does give a certain tension to the action sequences, and even though most of "Contraband" is pretty forgettable, there are a few stand-out moments of sheer weirdness (in no small part thanks to the useless dubbing) that guarantee that this won't bore.

Fulcis crime film is also one of his most brutal films. There are alot of sadistic killing here! One scene in particular warrents a nod involving a pretty womans face and a Bunson Burner!! Fucking creul. Genre fav. Fabio Testi rules in his usual way! And that Fabio Frizzi score is super cool! I cant wait to track that down and add it to my film music collection.

Fulci was great with non-horror movies as well. Best proof is this uber-violent and gory crime thriller. Tough Euro-stuff with a great disco scene.

KahdeksankymmentÃ¤lukulainen eurocrimeklassikko paremmin zombietÃ¶herryksistÃ¤Ã¤n tunnetulta Lucio Fulcilta. Ã?Ã¤rimmÃ¤isen vÃ¤kivaltainen ja kuvastoltaan paikoin jopa kauhuelokuvamainen. Toimii ainakin henkilÃ¶kohtaisesti, tervetullutta vaihtelua Hollywoodin kaavamaisiin gangsterikuvauksiin. Kuten etukannen teksti kertoo: "Jos kuvittelit Al Pacinon olevan kova KummisedÃ¤ssÃ¤, sinun on pakko nÃ¤hdÃ¤ Fabio Testi tÃ¤ssÃ¤ elokuvassa!"

Very violent Fulci gangster flick. Worth watching, but revels in its excess (not that its a bad thing) - but thats typical Fulci really.
