Incredibly poor start to 2019 by Netflix. I haven't hated a movie this much since Dog Days. There's a mountain of plotholes, poor cinematography, horribly non-linear and confusing editing, often abysmal direction, trashy acting and poor writing, including dialogue. I didn't want my first review to be a 0 but it is. Watch Bandersnatch instead or something. How this was an English-language release confounds me. Even the intro is a rip-off of James Bond. The plot is also really bad, and sometimes the editing is so choppy it just jumps time mid-scene.

Noomi Rapace does her job, even if her role was hard to be credible. The rest is completely forgettable. An action film made to become lost. Its full direct-to-DVD equivalent just in streaming.

Whatever inherent value there might be in gender-flipping such a generic template is mitigated by the movie’s reluctance to seize on the unique energy that its women bring to the table.

The twists in Close aren’t very twisty and its thrills aren’t particularly thrilling. But if watching women getting smacked around by cartoon bad guys before finally getting payback is your thing, by all means, have at it.
