Heartfelt but dramatically tepid tale of two kids who must fend for themselves after their single mom goes missing.

Not much to this film, though I find it to be pretty incredible. Not in your face, not action packed, but great performances and damn good writing. Definitely in my top 5 this year.

This is not “Death of a Salesman’’ or “Save the Tiger’’ (in the case of the latter, thank God). But how refreshing to see a movie about a mother’s struggles that doesn’t culminate in her lying on her back to make ends meet.

This was a well crafted film with a lot of emotional impact. It doesn't use manipulative editing or music because it's more concerned with painting a realistic portrait of a single, immigrant mother and her two kids. Children Of Invention is rich storytelling and well worth the journey.
