The first live-action movie by the Persepolis filmmaking team of Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud is not as engaging as their animation debut, but is beautifully scored and well-acted.

With serious undertones but I feel best taken not too seriously and enjoyed as a fairy tale. I thought I would like it more but the ending left me feeling existential and I was not quite prepared for that.
