Chernobyl Diaries (2012)

A group of six tourists looking to go off the beaten path, hire an 'extreme tour guide' who, ignoring warnings, takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but now a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years earlier. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, the group members find themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone.

I cannot comprehend why such a low score for a good film. Why what's wrong with it? It tells a story which is not nonsense, it actually happened and the acting OK isn't Oscar winning but isn't rubbish. I've seen very much worse. It's atmospheric and it holds a memory to the people of Pripyat. OK so the story is fabricated or is it? Who knows for real if there are people that survived and became strange inhospitable beings? Hmm, there could be some truth in that, after all world governments have a tendency of covering things up. The film is just a joy to see the unspoilt place of Pripyat as it is now. I would certainly love to take a visit here! The makers in my opinion did an excellent job on making this film and it is certainly no insult to the people of Pripyat in making this film. On the contrary it is a reminder and a memory. And while I'm at it what a brilliant track by Marilyn Mason while the end credits roll.

I cant believe this is 20%, maybe its not a horror masterpiece but it was cool to watch, the critics here suck, they give better reviews to crappy shitty movies like Mama 2013!!!!!!!!! WTFFFFFF

Am not sure why this film has had poor reviews, it's a brilliant original film, film of the year for me so far. The film though is maybe slightly insensitive to the victims of the Chernobyl disaster. The idea is an interesting one, a group of Americans on a guided tour travel to a city in Chernobyl which was abandoned 25 years ago due to a real life Nuclear Disaster. Its just safe enough to go back in to look around and take some pictures, what they have not banked on is mutants caused by the Disaster have escaped from an onsite Military hospital and go on the rampage after the Americans who are stranded their due to their transport being sabotaged and their tour guide being eaten. It really is a classic this, the ending is doomed and brilliant, a great modern horror film which is full of horror and suspense.
