Captain Kidd (1945)

Cutthroat pirate William Kidd captures Admiral Blayne's treasure ship and hides the bounty in a cave. Three years later, Kidd, posing as a respectable merchant captain, offers his services to the King of England. Seeking a social position, Kidd also negotiates for Blayne's title and lands, provided he can prove Blayne was associated with piracy. Launched upon his royal mission, Kidd is unaware that Blayne's son Adam is among the crew, determined to clear his father's name.

Very historically inacurate. Tower Bridge in London was build in 1894 not 1699. The Quedagh Merchant was not blown up off Madagascar. It was taken by Captain Kidd back to New York. The wreckage was discovered in the Carribean in 2007. The acting was fine and the story,as told, engrossing, but the production was on the poor side. The lighting was terrible for a movie made in 1945. Overall a decent movie to watch once, but it will be forgetable.

Pirates! You just have to love Charles Laughton (sp?) as Captain Kidd. A must in any pirate film collection.

Great movie! Great acting! Great story! I like Laughton better in this film than in MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY. If you want to see a truly entertaining movie that will hold your attention from beginning to end, don't miss out on CAPTAIN KIDD.
