A compelling film on a dark period. It is simple and quite in portrayal, leaves a strong impression.

This is, first of all, an electrifying and poignant love story....And it is also one hell of a thriller.

A taut, compelling film about the tension, distrust and senseless violence in contemporary Ireland.

The "troubles" are a thing of the past. Gerry Adams trying for the mainstream, and everyone getting along. If you want to know how it was back in the eighties, you can watch this film with Helen Mirren and Belfast native John Lynch, both of them easy on the eyes. Helen Mirren has also been featured in two other films about the troubles, which are also worth seeing.

[A] trite, weepy, rather contrived tale -- you feel that every extra who passes in the street has a more involving, authentic story to tell.
