As one of my fellow film critics said: "Can Pedro make a bad film? The answer seems to be no." Best film of the year so far? Probably, although i havent seen Precious yet! Only negative: not enough of Chus Lampreave, Lola Duenas and Rossiiiii!

Not a film for kids afflicted with ADA or folks who can't handle subtitles (the film is long: 2 hrs +) or multiple threads or multiple layers of emotional content that never gets heavy-handed. Even when the pace or dialogue wanders a bit, Homar and Cruz invariably put it back on track. The best film of 2009--with one qualification: I'm seeing "Nine" tonite.
