Everyone should be made to watch this movie once. You won't want to watch it again, the emotional impact is too great. Best actress oscar was given for a reason, GREAT acting.

Perhaps one of the top 10 best debuts of all time.Swank's performance was and is a revelation its a performance that is of the same tier as Daniel Day Lewis. The film is brutal and harsh and I'm glad it is since it shows hate and violence for what it is a disgusting horrifying event in life that is not sanitized.I hope they release the NC-17 cut one day.The film is visceral and it needed to be because a physical and emotional reaction stays with you forever, and an emotional reaction is only temporary.

I watched this film about 5 yr ago so actually i dont really remember...but I've got strong impressions of sadness that the protagonist is sexually assaulted and this shatters her pride and confidence as a male... The story is awesome and Hilary's admirable performance greatly inspires me..

A movie that wil leave you speechless and shocked. It's a hard movie to watch, but definitivly worth every painful moment. Hillary Swank's best role ever.

These are the kind of films that make me want to be a film maker. For a director to have so much power over an audience's emotions is astonishing to me and this film is one of those powerful films. I was enthralled by every second of it. The story was astonishing and the performances where career defining. Who knew when she did Next Karate Kid that Hilary Swank would be the oscar winning leading lady that she is today. All I can say is that this should be required viewing for any self respecting American.
