Box of Moonlight (1996)

Al Fountain, a middle-aged electrical engineer, is on the verge of a mid-life crisis, when he decides to take his time coming home from a business trip, rents a car, and heads out looking for a lake he remembers from his childhood. But his wandering takes him into the life of Kid, a free-spirited young man who helps Al escape from the routine of everyday life and find freedom to enjoy himself.

Great indie comic/drama with a great performance from Rockwell, though all the cast are good.

The 88% of "Flixster" voters that are uninterested in this movie are missing the fuck out. Everyone should see this movie. It'll make you happy when you're not.

The film is meant to be a whimsical romp, and it takes some time to getting used to eccentric actor John Turturro as Everyman in Middle America!

Very slow, plus why did the main character need to commit adultery and wanton destruction of someone else's property to learn how to relax? Slowing down to smell the roses is a good message, but committing criminal and moral crimes to learn it seems excessive. Always love Sam Rockwell, though.
