Blood of the Vampire (1958)

A man and wife are terrorized by Mad Scientist Dr. Callistratus who was executed but has returned to life with a heart transplant. Along with his crippled assistant Carl, the 'anemic' Mad Scientist, believed to be a vampire, conducts blood deficiency research on the inmates of a prison hospital for the criminally insane to sustain his return to life.

Although no real vampires to speak of, this little Universal Horror is immensely watchable just because of the plot, where a recently condemned doctor is shipped off to a jail for the criminally insane, just because the chief warden wants his help on his, "experiments" heh heh.. You know where this is heading don't you? This was a bit nasty, a bit messy, but still fun for the most part, it gets a little too stupid at the end ("Let go of my arm!") and the end is a bit pat, but oh well, this was a fun surprise.

I don't remember this movie in great detail, but I remember it being alright, not good but not bad either. It's not one of the best vampire movies I've seen, it's more of a mad scientist movie.

Good title which is the part of the problem as there is no vampire. A mad Dr is able to bring dead people back to life using a new experiment.
