Blondell and Cagney were one of the best screen teams. Right up there with Powell and Loy and Astaire and Rogers.

The attraction here is the chance to see a very young Cagney, Blondell, and even younger Ray Milland. Unfortunately, the hackneyed script and pure direction make these three stars seem like jewels lost in a gravel pile. Don't get me wrong, it's fun to see, but not worth so much praise. Save your enthusiasm for Footlight Parade-a far superior Cagney/Blondell feature.

fantastic pre-code cagney blondell picture!! i loveeeee james cagney's witty lines and blondell's sharp responses! highly recommend if you can get a copy!

An old but still pretty fresh movie about con artists. Like a Lubitsch movie but without Lubitsch, and much more American. It does well to link the con artists to the "legitimate" stock market/broker.

I saw this only recently at the film festival in Bologna, and I fell in love with James Cagney all over again. More should be done to revive and restore early Hollywood sound pictures. "Hello Hooooney!"
