You want to time travel to the beginnings of the European incursion onto this land? SEE THIS MOVIE! Here is the real deal, the real mindset--at least as close to it as I've ever seen on the big screen...incredible worldview, scenery, soundtrack

This is a fine Canadian frontier film set in 1634. It's a mix of "The Mission" and "The Last of the Mohicans" with touches of "Aguirre, the wrath of God". It's somewhat hard to watch at times.

Its been many years since I watched this one, but I enjoyed it at the time. Depicts the tragically destructive collision of two cultures where neither side set out to destroy the other.

I was awed at the single mindedness of the Jesuit priests, who knew they would die, but went anyway. Disturbing conclusion, where at first faith seemed to triumph, but the pacifism preached to the natives ends up getting them killed.
