Billy Liar (1963)

I could never get bored of this film ive loved it since I first watched it in English Lit. at school. Why oh why didn't he get on the train with Julie Christie!!

A well-constructed British New Wave film that apparently stole its central idea from the short story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty." Billy problematically gets his fantasies mixed up with reality. This movie's worth checking out for the fact that it's Julie Christie's first screen appearance, apart from the fact that it's actually fun and slightly profound.

Billy needs a pschcologist! There were a lot of funny moments, but overall the film was sad. I'd hoped he could follow through with Julie, but maybe he redeemed himself with his family, which would be ok.
