Fun movie. Liked how they got the actors from the 60s show to voice their characters and also how it poked fun at the old series by exaggerating Batman's preparedness, ingenuity and deductive reasoning.

It was ok - generally I enjoy all things Batman but it didn't quite live up to expectations. Adam West and Burt Ward return to voice the animated throwback to the classic Batman TV series, with great puns, slapstick comedy and loads of returning cast, it was great to see it come back to life through animation, but just wasn't quite as good as the original TV series. As a cinema feature length film it didn't do it for me but as a DVD with all the added extras it will probably be worth it. I'm probably more miffed at the lack of extras and steep price charged by the cinema than the quality of the feature.

The art direction is a little untrue to the series. It's all very dark when it should be an experience in oversaturation. And Adam West and Julie Newmar just sound tired. They try their hardest and it's nice to have them back in the roles, but it's kind of saddening to hear. Burt Ward sounds exactly the same though. A fun watch though. The tone of the script is spot-on. The writers nailed the ridiculous twists and turns the series relied on to further their tales (and sneak in some clever nods to Bat-lore throughout the years).

An honourable love letter to the joy and campy fun of the original series, Return of the Caped Crusaders sports enough clever schemes, inside and outside jokes, and an overall visual appeal that matches the original. The theme of preserving and glorifying its own reputation shines as a value that should never be forgotten or dismissed or refuted by modern adaptations of the much loved character.

Go in expecting campy, silly, beyond ridiculous plot and over the top jokes and you'll have a brilliant time. Much better than Batman V Superman: Dawn of Bordem
