wow, this was a long lost movie...i'm surprised my parents borrowed this for me....in the 3rd grade or so.

Anjelica Huston's directorial debut employs an impressive cast, and at times showcases a promising sense of style. But Bastard Out Of Carolina seems hollow at its center, due largely to the fact that Anne Meredith's screenplay doesn't make very good use of its source material.

this movie made me curse out loud...throwing things at the t.v., i started crying when the girl couldn't walk...i forget whether she dies/leaves...or what..i need to watch it again...this is a MUST SEE

this is a very sad movie how a mother does not even know what side that she wants to be on the man married or her children and how she had the nerve to let a man discipline her child to the point where she had to be taken to emergency room to find out that her tail bone was broken. right then she should have left him alone and worry about herself and her kids.
