Baron Blood (1972)

A young man, Peter, returns to Austria in search of his heritage. There he visits the castle of an ancestor, a sadistic Baron who was cursed to a violent death by a witch whom the Baron had burned at the stake. Peter reads aloud the incantation that causes Baron Blood to return and continue his murderous tortures.

"Baron Blood" es supuestamente una cinta de horror pero lo que mas asusta es el monumental grado de estupidez de sus personajes. Peter, unico descendiente de un Baron asesino (condenado a sufrir eternamente por una bruja) decide despertarlo sin mayor motivo que mera curiosidad. La encargada en restaurar el castillo del Baron, Eva, grita histericamente por la mayor parte de la pelicula (aun cuando no debería) y otros personajes tienen momentos inexplicables (como los poderes sobrenaturales de una niña). "Baron Blood" es una cinta que no ofrece absolutamente nada. Es una cinta muy pobre en todos los sentidos, que ni siquiera provee de escenas gore para divertirnos. Es un bodrio.

Bava doesn't quite have the monster movie thing down. Has it's moments, but overall just a mediocre Gothic horror.

Cheesy but enjoyable late gothic from Mario Bava basically feels like a Hammer film with a touch more gore.

Bava uses his trademark brilliant color cinematography to amazing effect within the huge, old castle, though the movie as a whole is a shade or two less effective than the similar Kill, Baby... Kill! (1966).

Didn't really enjoy this. Silly plot (even past what you'd expect). Unconvincing.
