The U.S. government recognizes land grants made when the West was under Spanish rule. This inspires James Reavis to forge a chain of historical evidence that makes a foundling girl the Baroness of Arizona. Reavis marries the girl and presses his claim to the entire Arizona territory.

A solid film by Samuel Fuller about a man who makes the "perfect" fraud to own the state of Arizona. Fuller gives a nice look to a process similar to expropiation, the rebellion against monarchist landowners. And not forget: the triumph of love against the lies. Great cast and performances!!

The second feature film from Samuel Fuller. Not the most exciting piece of filmmaking you'll ever come across, and certainly not one of Fuller's better works, but it's entertaining enough. Vincent Price does well (as he always did) playing a slippery eel of a bad guy type role. It does lag here and there, but there's enough fun to get you through.

Vincent Price plays a creepy land baron, a creepy monk, and a creepy gypsy all in the same film. Hard to believe this movie was based on a true story, but it was. Interesting watch just forthe historical perspective.

Vincent Price dials it low as a con man intent on stealing Arizona from the United States. He would have gotten away with it too, if he hadn't fallen in love with his wife. Gypsy scenes are fantastic!

Vincent Price demonstrates his unique acting style. He excels at playing men who are engaged in horrible acts, deception,or impending murder. We watch him charm his victims as they become helplessly stuck in his web. Still, as audience members, we're always fearing the exposure of Price's schemes. It's an odd form that his performances embody, odd in that he is not John Wayne or even James Dean, yet we still root for him. What are we rooting for exactly? His complex flaws? His deceptive charm? Certainly not for the success of his dastardly plans. The story of this film is o.k., but Price's performance is a gem.
