If you're a fan of David Gordon Green or the Dardenne brothers, you should see this right now. Amazing cinematography.

A quiet and beautiful masterpiece. Director Lance Hammer's debut is reminiscence of the empathy and poetry shown in "George Washington." The actors are all amateurs, but take to the camera naturally in this tale of tragedy, redemption and family, beautifully photographed in the MIssissippi Delta.

This film is the contemporary blues. It's muddy waters and robert johnson extrapolated and desaturated. Charles Burnett got to this terraine first: poor black people depicted as noble and mundane. This film has an outsiders objectivity, the distance serves the sadness, and the audience is all the more affected. Go see it.

When people have nothing left they treat each other like dogs.
