There's nothing very profound here, but we do at least get a nice handling of period and milieu, and pretty good performances of the songs.

Solid performances here, and Softley is good at evoking the period; the music, too, is very well chosen and performed, if not bang on the Beatles' sound. However, the film is understated, too understated. For me, it never gets up enough speed to be all that engaging.

This is a movie on the early days of the Beatles. The story has a main focus on ex original Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe. I found this to be a interesting movie. Stephen Dorff was very good as Stuart Sutcliffe. One of his best roles. I am not sure how accurate the history is with this movie. The rest of the cast was quite good in their roles as well. The movie also shows the early struggles the band had to become popular. This should be a must see for any Beatle or rock fan. Worth a watch.

One of those films with a special place in my heart. This film is about true love and friendship, romantic, heartbreaking and intense. It also tells the story of how The Beatles came to be four instead of five, and of some very inspiring, talented and fascinating people; Stuart Sutcliffe, John Lennon, Astrid Kirschherr and Klaus Voorman.. etc. All real people, beautifully portrayed by brilliant actors and actresses. It takes place in Hamburg, before Beatlemania, this is where is all started.

Great biopic, and the ending still makes me cry twice.. when Stu dies and then when it says "on Dec 8 1980 John Lennon was assinated" :(
