Seven years after the death of his wife, widower Shigeharu seeks advice on how to find a new wife from a colleague. Taking advantage of their position as a film company, they stage an audition. Interviewing a series of women, Shigeharu is enchanted by the quiet Asami. But soon things take a twisted turn as Asami isn't what she seems to be.

By far one of the scariest movies, I've ever seen. The last 15 minutes is so painful to watch.

WARNING : NOT FOR EVERYONE This is the only film by Takashi Miike that I care for at all. (Still waiting to see The Happiness of the Katakuris) Nothing is as it seems here. It starts off as a rather melodramatic story of a guy that loses his wife. Then it becomes a bit comedic as, years later, he begins searching for a new wife at the suggestion from his son. Gears shift yet again when questions arise about the true identity of the woman he is now smitten with arise. From here, it becomes an obsessive search for the truth until the disturbing, final act of the film. Grotesque and intriguing; it makes Fatal Attraction look like Swimfan.

AUDITION slowly builds to an emotional and visceral gut punch of an ending. I saw it coming, but by the time I realized how horrific it would be, I couldn't look away. Among the Masters of Horror, Takashi Miike is a grand master!

Fucking hectic movie ay, the first half of the movie was really slow and had no hints of a horror movie but still very enjoyable, then it gets creepy as fuck.. the main chick character is hot even though she looks like she has some mental problem throughout the whole movie..
