Asterix and Cleopatra (1968)

Popular animated hero Asterix and his faithful sidekick Obelix travel to ancient Egypt to help Cleopatra build a new summer home. Cleopatra and Julius Caesar have made a bet, with Caesar wagering the project cannot be completed in a few weeks time. I love Dogmatic! Asterix the Gaul and his "young" friend Obelix's adventures are always great, but this one is especially fun with them messing in Cleopatra's domain; wit and sarcasm gallore.

Some might like it for musical numbers, but these were really anoying...and the animation is still poor!

One of the best animation movies ever made. The pirates, the cake song, Cleo's lion, it's non-stop laughter from beginning to end.

A huge improvement over the last movie. Asterix and Cleopatra isn't void of flaws: voice acting that doesn't match the designs in the English dub in my opinion, ESPECIALLY Edifis (he sounds like an old Patrick Star) and notable padding (the Dutch dub cut out that trippy "When You're Eating Well, You're Well") but it still has higher production values than the Asterix the Gaul. The animation is more detailed and they actually bothered to animate characters walking in different directions though the character models all look like they've come from different movies, most notably the pirates and the songs are fun despite having no effect on the plot. The most notable thing however is that it knew what it was: a movie, first and foremost. It remains faithful to its source material whilst still adding enough necessary changes to make it more of a movie. Especially since Gaul was just the original comic in "movie" form. Asterix and Cleopatra is a good adaptation of one of Asterix's greatest adventures.

Un très bon Astérix. L'animation est plutôt mauvaise (ça reste très statique et les scènes d'action manquent de rythme) mais l'humour est excellent.
