An entertaining romp through ancient Greece, loosely based on myth. A shame it's never been translated to English. The score, by Joe Hisaishi (Spirited Away), is superb.

Love greek mythology and so loved this anime. Yes, loosely based on the myth but very well done by Japanese Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and NOT Mamoru Hamatsu.

One of the heavy hitters of the mid-80s giant studio animes, Arion is supremely, bafflingly, shockingly silly, in a way totally distinct to its time and place. Ain't been this befuddled by an anime since I watched Do You Remember Love? The silliest era of anime also produced some of the true greats, though, like The Wings of Honneamise, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Grave of the Fireflies, and Night on the Galactic Railroad. Why isn't this over here in America?! This is one of the best anime films to come out of the 80s and I had to find out late in the game! I love this anime with a passion for loads of reasons. The animation is fantastic, the characters--each representing a Greek good--are by far the best cast I've ever seen, the music is sublime, and the story itself is something that even the game "God of War" can't touch. All I can say is this: if you ever find this movie--with English subtitles!--hurry up and buy it while you can; and also, to all you anime distributing companies who are reading this, bring this over here to the states!
