I had such high hopes for this movie. It looked funny and charming. However, it was just a mess. Absolutely awful! There are so many things wrong with the film: unbelievable and over the top characters, a ridiculous (and at time nonexistent) plot, poor script, bad directing. This should be shown in intro film classes as an example of how NOT to make a movie.

Whenever the film shifts from spunky "let's put on a show" fun to overly earnest drama, it slows to a crawl, with mawkish performances that fail to rise above the soggy material.

Funny stuff.The main romance is sweet and the tension is fun to play around with, but there's also quite a lot of cheese, and the ending is unbelievably sappy. Liked it despite myself.
