when i was 8 i saw this movie in the video store and i wanted to rent it. when i was finally old enough i did rent it and it was fucking perfect. i have excellent taste.

One of the most underrated slasher movies of all time! It plays out more like Ten Little Indians than Friday the 13th, and I suppose because of the era it was made in people were pissed when they didn't see buckets of blood. What this movie has to offer instead are great performances, well-developed characters, actual suspense, plenty of laughs, and lots of atmosphere. I'd even say this movie has the best cast of any slasher movie to come out of the 80's. Deborah Foreman gives an especially great, creepy performance. Charles Bernstein (who also scored A Nightmare on Elm Street) provides the film with a great, bizarre score that really helps build the tension. April Fool's Day is so well made and fun to watch that I really don't understand how any horror fan can't love this movie. It puts most gore-filled slasher movies to shame. A classic!
